Medication-Assisted Treatment

These services currently address clients with addiction to opiates, such as heroin or other narcotic drugs. The programs included in this category are:

Opioid Treatment Program (OTP)
This is a medically driven hospital-based program that serves the opiate addicted client on an outpatient basis. Treatment includes medication with methadone and counseling offered in various levels of intensity, according to the identified needs of the client.  Laboratory testing, including free Hepatitis C and HIV testing are included in these services.

Buprenorphine (Suboxone) Treatment Services

This medically driven program offers an alternative response to the needs of the opiate-addicted client.  Induction (build-up) on the drug is offered at the outpatient hospital setting and follow-up services are offered as office-based care.

Admission Criteria / Process / Fees

Candidates are generally self-referred to this program but may be referred through various sources.  Initial contact should be made with the Counselor on Call (908)722-1232 X2026 for a pre-screening.  Some basic information will be taken for a pre-screening and information about the program will be provided.  The Medical Director will review the pre-screening form and, if the applicant is accepted, an appointment will be scheduled as soon as possible with a counselor for the full intake. Following the completion of the intake, an appointment will be scheduled with the medical director to begin treatment.

• Intake fees for the Opioid Treatment Program (methadone) are $150 and weekly fees are $40.
• Medicaid and sliding scale fees apply for qualified individuals
• Intake fees for Buprenorphine (Suboxone) are $200; follow-up physician visits are $75.
• Medicaid will cover the cost of the medication.
